Forum : Producing Help : blue glitch in ableton
does anyone know how to use the blue glitch in ableton so that it doesn't sync with what's playing but only to the moment you turn it on? i want to use the vinyl record stop effect so that i can push a button at any time and it behaves like when you press stop on a vinyl record player... even when you press at a non rythmical moment (e.g. somewhere randomly in the middle of a bar)

You can use automation clips.. Or do you mean when playing live? then i'd just add it as an effect to a certain channel (in your case the master), link it to a midicontroller, et voila :)

the problem is that i want to use the first effect for 16 bars, but then i can only trigger it once every 16 bars, and i want to use it in a theatre show and the moment it needs to be triggered can be at any moment, not nessecarily at a rythmically correct time.

Hmm so you want it to be programmed to switch on randomly? Don't know how you could do that, sorry :p

google & download the dblue tapestop, its just the tapestop effect without anything else like bitcrusher and no sequencer attatched. it works with seconds instead of bars..
I use it all the time (dblue glitch is fun, but it limits you in so many ways, while just cutting, re-warping and rewinding yourself and using external effects like bit crusher, tapestop you can give so much more personality to your music)
