those who work have more money indeed,  a nice car a nice house and the most have a high vieuw of theirself,  the guy who like more free time and gets sick of a office job and the traffic jam in the morning wants to paint something or make music at home,  but without having sells or fans it is considered as a rat in this society,  just take a look at ur lifestyle and how your friends who do a 9 to 5 job react to it,  it says enough...  maybe u dont have a big car and a house with a family and 3 kids u only see 2 hours a day in a tired mood,  but u choosed for that,  and other people should respect other ones choise,
to respect those people,  there should be a system,  like...  u get 800 euro a month for an artist status,  and if ur making money with it,  it adds to the 800 euro,  when u get higher as 1500,  there will be a percent tax for the beginner artists and those who will never make it...  the organisation would make a site where u post ur tracks,  and u will be able to sell ur mp3's for 2 euro a piece,  if u buy a album u have 2 euro reduction, u have to post at least one track every 3 months to prove u are a real artist
the society will still work properly,  and there will still be people who like to go to work and earn more money,  or be independent
the society will respect us,  and it will be better then painting,  having no sales, cutting ur ear off, and get one million dollars 100 years after ur dead deceiced

i have some mixed feelings bout this "statuut" aswell
i think we're one of the last countries in EU where this is possible, dont think it will last long, due to the crisis

Art and hair :))
as an "artist" there are multiple "legal" ways to get money for your work.
-trough a "Declaration of intent" (dont have to pay taxes on that, its the best way to sell a piece of work to someone, without anybody inbetween)
-trough an "independent status" (is what I do now, but stopped selling my work this way for multiple reasons)
-trough Sociaal Bureau voor Kunstenaars (SBK) (like T-heater wicjh is part of T-interim, yes its an interim, but you are the one that comes up with a (one time) job (like selling one piece one time to one person) and they make it so that its done in a legal way (did that too,but for me there were more profitable ways)
Ive been told there is no such thing as an "kunstenaars statuut" ,I guess you have it when youre financially active in the artistic sector.

all in all I personally try to go with the flow (wich means Im looking for a parttime job because there is no money in art, except if you are verry lucky and have the right connections, besides the talent needed to have that needed-amount of succes, still active though, and building my connections...(atm:working on a (that) comicbook, flyers, personal collection of grafical pieces, and composing music for an exposition wich will appear on cd that will be included in the artists book about the exposition/gallery))

--> i agree, making art should be something you like doing, and if you're able to have an income thanks to it, great

making art with the purpose of earning money is the wrong motivation for creation imo. and in my humble and retarded opinion this is the reason why mainstream stuff, wheter it be paintings, music or plain jibberisch in words, allways is empty, lacking enthousiasm or creativity... it becomes a factory job...
most of the art that i find to be really good mostly comes from formerly unknown artist, just doing their thing like i'm doing with music. only difference is they have talent and were lucky enough to be picked up by someone/some company that promoted them, because they are good, not because they are allready known.
but soit, doesn't concern me frankly, the day someone wants to pay for my "art" will be the day i die by laughing myself to death ^^
will read the article when i get home ^^
 cheers dudes and dudelettes
