Forum : Producing Help : Fidget Basslines
I have been producing dubstep for somewhat 6 months now and my cousin has low producing experience.
He's a fidget DJ, and we wanted to produce our own fidget music to play at parties.
Yesterday evening, we set up a studio at his place. We bought a fidget samplepack, which included good drums + some bassline stabs.
But no synths, and we really really want to be able to make synths and basslines like the ones made by Drop The Lime, Jack Beats, AC Slater etc.
(Only sequencing those bassline stabs didn’t give great results either).
We've been trying out different VST synths that were advised on forums we found by googling around, like Massive, Albino 3, Sylenth 1, 3xOsc
(and Malström, but since we don't know how to work with Reason, that's not an option).
And fx: Oligarc (various fx), Verbiage (reverb), TAL-Bitcrusher (bitcrusher).
We found out that phat basic saw- and square-waves with good filtering, bitcrushing and some resonance SHOULD produce good fidget synths
with a wet, bouncy feeling - but we don't manage to get it done right :-/
So we didn't come here asking without doing some research first, and we hoped you could help us out with a clear step-by-step explanation or something
of how decent fidget basslines are constructed.
Some tracks including the type of synths we’d like to be able to make:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw_rLFGh-XM (The Kiss (Jack Beats remix))

Doesn't anyone have tips or advice on fidget production?
Even a massive preset (.ksd) as an example for a fidget bass synth would be helpful.
