I tried this with a Subtractor & some FX on Reason ...
Not really what you're looking for but you can always try to improve it ;)

EDIT : In fact you need to use the first sample of the Redrum to play the "clap" sound ;)
(Check the cable side of the rack)

layer your claps and eq them or put ( subtle ) effects on them
make them into 1 sample, can give nice results :)

well actualy i know u have to take a clap and put fx on it ect... but then u still have to find the right sample ect... i mean something that can be done with soundforge or a specific effect or cobinaison that give that result with most of the clapsamples

like in those claps, they not direct, there is a sweep in the beginning of only a few miliseconds or seconds

try free-loops.com/. they have all kinds of free downloadable sounds, loops, etc. you can probably find some claps there too.

You can try to use a vintage 808 (it is a little bit difficult) but you can
find vst clones of 808,909 and 606.Try to find the D16 group. They have
really good vst clones of classic vintage machines. Then put fx's etc,etc.....
I hope that it will help you.

Hey guys. Yes these are nice. These sound like snares mixed with claps. I think about claps and snares in terms of frequencies, not instruments. Like Particle said:
1. Layer things. Clap with snare on top, adjust volumes intelligently & eq frequencies in and out of individual layers to get a good mix. The "punch" in a realistic snare is said to be between 5k and 8k.
then...
2. I often find claps and snares end up lacking some attack so you can use tiny metal or wooden rim sounds at the beginning of them to get that attack back (Rim shot fake). For those who use FL Studio: the default metronome sound is sometimes used by artists layered on their claps to give them some more attack. Brief white noise helps.
3. Compression helps you to get rid of high volume attacks and make the sustain longer. The actual main body of the sound comes with the sustain, not the attack. Punchy claps often sound almost delayed.
I hope i didn't say anything too obvious ;)

In my latest track "Dubstep is so gay", a super gay track to explain why dubstep is gay music, i used a lot of super futuristic clap, you can sample it :D
