DeHomunculus - soundacide

Description

still working on it. the bass sounds a little out of place at times, but it is meant to be :D
edit: lengthened the intro, added some delays,...
edit 2: remastered the entire track, in fact completely reworked it. might come with some slight setbacks of course. keep me posted;)

mmmhhh... very strange, some nice things and others that i dont like, all the FX on drumz, kinda phaser, stereo imager enz, no good, for me off course, the guitar is very nice, bigga dubstep bassline, and funky sounds... intresting but needs more wrok, more cohesion... keep on!!! :)

thanks dude :D any idea for improvement?
i've already lengthened the intro, hardened the bassline a little bit, added some more variation to the guitars, and that's about what i changed thus far... but i'm waiting to upload it till some more ideas arrive.

Nice crisp mix gotta admit that.
Now let me tell you something which I noticed throughout your work: I think the main problem in most of your songs is turning the "jam sessions" into actual "songs", into a story that came to be out of a basic idea, and that developed into an original intent for structure and unity.

The way I see it, is that you make jamsessions rather than thought-out songs. If they put you in a bar and hand you over some instruments and hardware, I'm sure you'll be getting out the stuff comparable to what you've been making thus far. It's like the cool jam sessions, people know what they're doing with the sound, but not with the song...

Maybe it's hard to explain, but what I'm trying to say is, that there's a lack of "song" ideas and an overload of "jam" ideas, I sort of sense you have tons of ideas, but unconsciously don't really know what to do with them. You need the jamz anyway but I think now's slowly the time for you to start turning those jamsessions into actual songs, regardless of the genre.

wow now THAT'S a comment :D i know what you mean and i know you're absolutely right. i indeed have trouble with finishing stuff. and i do not realy have the insight and knowledge of programs (nor the programs themselves) to actually make finished songs. i'm autodidacting through experiments. should anyone be willing to educate me further in or give some useful, detailed hints about the ways of fls6 and stuff, i'd apreciate that. because i've probably reached the point at which experiments won't realy bring me further... of course, genre is still a mather which leaves room for experiments :D pm's should do :))

i'm going to rework about every song which is online the next couple of weeks. and try to make 'm actual "songs".

Distreality [be] - 16 years ago

you should use some nasty compression on the kick imho...

nice vibe

DeHomunculus [be] - 16 years ago

ill give it a shot :)) thanks bro!

CruizeOfFiction [be] - 16 years ago

I like the jazzy influences (especially those breaks sound realy appealing, maybe try overcompressing them a tad to make em sound harsher?)

but not that much a fan of that monotone basssynth sound (with which the songs start)

DeHomunculus [be] - 16 years ago

i myself like the bass :)) but i'm working on the other thingies :) thanks mate!

Ah...intussen zijn we meer dan een jaar verder ;-)

Just reread my previous comment here above, I think that still applies to this song because this one is more jam-oriented. The deep bass feels like someone's playing a didgeridinges on stage ;-)

But yeah I guess the general consensus can be that you clearly have developed, if I think back to some of your previous songs, they have more structure and sound more of a "song". They've become true musical entities which is a good thing of course.
And with that, the consequence is that this one as a "jam" stands out more on itself too.
