Description
I was born in Ghent, raised in Ghent, and prolly will stay in Ghent, since it's the city massive of Drum 'n Bass. I got in touch with the music at the age of 13, and gradually focussed more and more on it, leaving all of my other favourite music styles behind (hiphop, punk, rock, techno, electro, some dance... You know, all the casual things).
The underground side of Drum n Bass just appealed to me!
At that same age I got myself a copy of FruityLoops... A program I used ever since (I did had some upgrades by now :-p). True the years I collected myself a huge library of samples, cause I am a real sample freak: I will rather use samples than VST's. Thats a mather of personal favour: I just like to play around with samples, FX them, make them sound totally different than they are.
I started to go to dnb parties on a regular base since 2005, from when I decided I really wanted nothing else anymore than drum n bass... I quitted the rockband I was playing in, got full focus on producing and eventually, in 2006, I bought myself a set of turntables. The first records I bought where in a rather party-party atmosphere (Simon n bassline smith, Subfocus, ...) but rather quickly I found my way tru the huge pile of available records, and ended up with Techy/Technoid/Trancy/Deep/Hard/Dark straight forward drum n bass... And so did the producing evolve in the same direction.
Lately I picked up a softer side of dnb too, the nu-skool sounds. I'm not really focussing in that direction, but I like it for a change once in a while.
I will be satisfied with my work when people appriciate it...
and hence the comments: so far, so good...
Altough nothing will ever be perfect, everything will always improve...
The world keeps on spinning, just like records!
Peace
