hey everybody,
i'm i need of some help, i've been looking for answers in different forums but i havent found salvation...
here is the deal: my microkorg receives midi-notes, i can overdub midi i record, thats no problem, the problem is that i cant get the arpegiator or the tempo from the microkorg synced with ableton live...
when start a midi loop, with the arpegiator on, the arp is not running and the tempo is not synced...
i found a post explaining everything i need to do from A to Z, but the software he's using (midi-yoke and midi-ox) are for pc and i'm one of those mac-geeks...
any other mac user with a mircokorg that can help me or give me some good advise on (for example) some software taht can get the job done
cheers

hey
1// r u sure that yr SYNC setup in ableton is up & running?
(does the sync out LED fashes?)
2// in the MIDI setup page (settings ableton) ; is your MIDI OUTPUT port (sync) enabled ? with the right clock type & port type?
grtz
jay

hey jay,
thx for the feedback, but that didnt solve my problem :p
it appears that de microkorg isnt able to sympli receive the clock by clicking "sync" on. the link below told me that ableton doesnt support that function for all hardware-synths (or something like that, i'm not sure....)
in the meanwhile i got the problem fixed with Midipipe, ipMIDI and 2 midi tracks in Ableton :s
i had to send my midi (clock) tot ipmidi, wich sended it to Midipipe (in) wich in his turn translated the virtual clock and virtual midi (out) to my actual korg...
i used this way of working because i tried following the explanation i found on this page http://www.ofrecordings.com/2008/04/27/how-to-keep-the-microkorg-arpeggiator-in-sync/
i'm gonna do some more messing around so i can get my synth in sync without having to use 2 midi-tracks... for some reason this doesnt feel like "the-way-it-is-suppose-to-work"

hey, sorry for the late re^my but i kinda lost notice of your reply :s
i downloaded the manual, you can find it http://media.zzounds.com/media/microKORG_Manual-1125bd7d36fce07f8e150f741ee3e9b1.pdf

the file is in .pdf and to be honest: i dont know how to select just the midi-implementation chart and copy-paste or whatever

yo

u'll find the answer in the last line of the MIDI implementation chart :
*3 : when the MIDI clock is internal, clock commands r transmitted, not received. The opposite for external or auto

so make sure u'r transmitting MIDI clock signals (MIDI pref in Live, on) AND put the MIDI clock on the KORG in the auto or external position (page 50)

if that doesn't seem to work, make sure u'll transmitting MIDI clock signals by monitoring them with a MIDI monitor, genre http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

succes & good luck!
