Since i'm never gonna understand how to compress i'll ask it for this time

I work in fl studio 8

I'm always having the problem that my kick is "underneath" my amen breakz
The one makes the other less pure qua sound

I've tried a lot , trying to compress for hours and hours but never can find the right compression.

Now i only add the vst's : soft clipper , EQ
And on the master channel : fruity limiter and soft clipper

Hope some of you can really help me

Have you tried sidechaining your amen break to the kick? If not: there are a lot of tutorials on youtube and the web on how to. Using fl peak controller is the easiest one.

just wondering.. if you use sidechain compression with your amens and the kick , isn't that a bit weird , used to see sidechain compression something for trance , kick and pad thing..

But I'll try sidechaining if i have the time , wanne know the result

actually the sidechaining in trance music etc is reel fat , you don t need to have a so huge treshold and ratio on the amenbreaks compressor.

What he said...

You can sidechain as 'hard' as you want. If you want to do it more 'advanced' you can split the break in a highpassed part and lowpassed part and sidechain only the lower part which interferes with your bass sound.

yeah I'll try it the next time i have the motivation to start up my windows.

And I'm not really getting all those compression things , really.. I'm learning (on my own) since my 12 (I'm now 18) to make music in FL studio.
When you have nobody to show you , it's harder to get everything right.

Despoilah showed me for like 5 seconds how to do piano roll when i was 13

Actually funny , I only started making "real" music when i was 16 , took a long time.

Yeah well... I learned my first steps in a time with hardly any internet, no youtube tutorials and 3kb/s downloadspeed ;)

But if someone shows you, it's faster, that's true...

We used to have producer/presentation-sessions with electrobel. Been some years now.

haha thanks bandarlog , you made my day by saying : 3kb/s downloadspeed
Stopped smoking today and so far this is the only take that made me laugh , thanks.

And yeah did 4 years to get the basics (very very basics) when I was 16 i found a tutorial on IDM/breakcore , that def got me inspired.
Oh well , we're going a bit off topic i think
