I'm not a master in mastering and I need some tips !
I use Floops 8 and there is no real Mastering Effect! How do the poeple with it?
What do you use to Masterize, I heard about Ozone but don't have it and too expensive!
Could you give me some usefull guidance pleaze?

I'm not that good at mastering myself
it's all about compression on each channel
on the master channel you'll need to put fruity limiter (make sure your levels are never higher than -2)
About compression ; i can't give you tips cause i suck at compression

I use already Limiter - Compressor - Eq - Revrbz - Slow Delayz
I kill the Ultra-Low freq and make some gapz and bumpz in da mid and highz
I try to Compress with 3 bandz...and make som testz...
But I'm really fucking blurred while making it!
What dou you use as Loudnessizer and Spacializerz or otherz usefull effects?

what does reverb and delay have to do with mastering?
and what do you mean with loudnissizer and spacializer?

For me mastering is improving the sound of a track...
When my track is composed I put my reverbz and delayz and then compressor and Eq...that's my way to "masterize" but I know it's not the right way!
a Loudnessizer is an effect that give you a fat general loudness (commercial) feeling...
a Spacializer is to expand your soundz in a 3D space....

yeah haha that's normal that you first filter and only when the song is finished you'll master the whole shit.
But reverb and delay have nothing to do with mastering , than you could say you are mastering with distortion or something like that :p
loudnessizer --> blood overdrive
a spacializer is nothing you really really need imo..

I firstly make the mix as good as I can, using good samples sounds is something I learned, it must be good from the beginning later I cut with eq's the try to separate the frequencies, make some panning.... Try using the Fl peak controller and FL soundgoodizer on the master channel... or a vst called sumo... compression is still kind of mistery, but I think you could work on your track later with a comp to improve it ( I still have to try this....)
then testing...
My 2 cents....
check my latest.

say whaaaat?!
soundgoodizer on the master channel?
Dude that makes all your EQ work for nothing , soundgoodizer pulls out the subbass in a sound , so if you'll do that on every sound in a track , it 'll be overloaded on sub basses
You can use soundgoodizer for drums and basses , NOT for everything.

mastering is really technical actually , it's not something you learn on yourself.
If you know people who can master a track properly , try asking them to show you and explain you how it needs to be done..

for sure, I guess I just try to make it sounds as good as I can, but that's obvious I'll never manage a real pro quality.
Drop your ears on my latest track, tell me how it sounds, I'd like you to, I mean I'm here on ebel also to learn so... tips are really welcome.... as I say each time...

what endora says is right!!
it's all about compression on EACH channel
on the master channel you'll need to put "fruity limiter" (make sure your levels are never higher than -2)
But for a good mastering i would'nt go louder then -12 on EACH channel, also your master channel... your song won't be very loud when you render it but just export it to wave file and then you reload the wave file as a sample in a new project, just add it to your playlist, adjust the bpm to the speed you made the song with, make sure you check the option "NORMALISE" and export again as a wave file....
Put a limiter ONLY on the master channel, put a compressor on EVERY fx channel you use... Try to use a new fx channel for EVERY single sound u use!!!
So don't leave sounds on your master channel becouse you don't use any effects on it.. Just put it in an empty fx channel an add a compresssor to it. if you put 2 diffirent hi hats on the same channel that's ok, but DON'T put a synth on the same fx channel like a kick becouse the effects on that channel are perfect for your synth.. becouse then your kick will sound like crap if it plays together with the synth in your playlist... just save your "mixer track state as" and reopen it on an empty fx channel, and use the new fx channel for your synth..
And about the compression: Always make sure the compressor stands 1st... so don't add for example a reverb, a flanger and then a compressor... always put the compressor 1st!!! i don't know exactly why but i learned this from a pro and it works very well for me....
Follow these steps and your mastering will be great!!! ;)
Sorry if my english is bad, but i can explain it to you in dutch if you like... just send me a pm for that.
I hope this works! Take care!! Grts,

yeah well , now we know whit what we can master , but it's not like when you put compressor in a channel that the compressor will be right for it.. you'll need to adjust settings.. And THAT is the hard part i noticed..
Aceton explained me but i already forgot :p

Check the mixing tips and tutorials... If you can get each channel good soundwise, then you're home-garden-kitchen-mastering won't be much more than maximising. I always cut the edges of every soundchannel. I have about 8 channels in the final render (example: ch1: bass, 2: snares, 3: lead, 4: effects,...), I eq them according to their place in the frequency spectrum (like brick wall hp on 100hz of everything but bass, kick and maybe some leads). Then some final compression to boost it without clipping. Then I think I got a mediocre mastering job done. For real mastering: a real studio & 3 years of education ahead...

hey, maybe this is interesting for you guys: www.trixonline.be/site/content/edu-pa.asp
I know it's not really mastering, but the basics are the same...
PS: I am not affiliated with Trix, I just thought it might be of interest...

Another question : what do you use to listen to your trakz while "mastering"?
I use headphone (Sennheizer HD 205-II) my stupid speakerz soundz to loud!
Is it some reliable headphonez?

No, it's not reliable. I've seen only one guy pull it of for years but all the rest of us mortals REALLY need monitors. Hifi speakers will color your sound, your music will sound very different and most of the time not in a good way.
damn... I have to buy Monitorz... really expensive no?
Depends on how good you want your sound to be divided by your budget..; :-) You can get a free level boost by buying 2nd hand. I bought me a couple of genelec 8040A for 900€ a few years ago. New they were 850 each and they (still) sound awesome.

Really to expensive for me!!! :(
I have to find a good compromise...or a Job...
thankz for all your reply.
