Hey there I was wondering if it would be possible to improve the sorting of the Trance genre..
I mean, all psytrance is in the same spot as goatrance, and for me it's a huge difference since I hate almost all psytrance :) no offense.
Suomi, Nitzhonot, Goatrance, Psytrance, Newschool, Dark, etc. should all be subgenres I think.. but that's just my thought.
I've only recently made an account on ebel so don't know who's in charge of the genres and stuff. thank you for your time.

In every genre you can make subgenres. It's typical for the goascene to think their genre is that important it def. NEEDS to be seperated... Not a good idea, not that big a scene. We have progressive already seperated from the rest.

I'd advise everyone to start their songdiscription with the subgenre
"Darkstep..." "progressive Psycoretrancefluoflashsong..." "...."

My suggestion would be: forget genres, start from a tabula rasa and be original ;-)
and if you really want to copy other artists/genres: tell the world in your song description (some people even give negative comments because of a "wrong category"--->stupidity in it's most evil way).

i also don't think there's a need for subgenres in the goa listing, it's all repetitive trancy 4/4 beatmusic with a psychedelic vibe anyway. you like it or you don't but that's a personal thing. you can specify subgenre in yr comment.

genres geven structuur. dan weet ge tenminste waarover ge het hebt.

@ cruize: genres may give structure (here on ebel for instance, like monkey said, to find your way in this jungle of tunes), but sunny has a point: genres help subcultures to develop, and hordes of brainless people to follow sudden standards. they help to lose originality and the true meaning of art. a dozen of producers (of all forms of art) just copy "cool" genres and diss "un-cool" genres, not entirely because they really like what they hear or see, but because of the coolness they try to follow and be. I went to a lot of "sucultural" parties in the past (going from an extreme superficial scene like metal, over dnb, breakcore, electro etc...) and they all have the same stupidity about them. they talk in ways of "true" music and of "being" a "true fan of/person in the genre". metalheads all dress black and when you go to a breakcore party, dreadlocks come in handy to gain credibility for instance. it's all about appearance and superficiality, and less about creating something that comes from within yourself. this may all seem a little extreme, and in fact, it is an extreme view when you take it too literally (most people will have more genres to hold on to than what I just said). I guess what I want to say is that "hokjesdenken" overrules most of the people after all, and it's a kind of personal aim to try not to (and maybe to convince others to leave this all behind).

just like saying: I made a vegetable soup instead of saying I made tomatosoup with some extra carrots.
their is a difference^^ weather you spiced it up with peperkes and peterselie or not, or maybe added a bit of varkesboeion and broodstokskes
Sure you can become an ubertomatosoup lover becouse you don't like other soups, but thats up to you^^. Besides as mentioned: peper, zout, noodmuskaat, boeion, broodstokes, croetons, anjuns, and some other spices and maybe extra vegetables are out their as well
and yes some hip chefs who are in the cooking bussiness for the money will start selling the soup in cans worldwide but with an unspiced "been their done that" flavour, but thats up to them as well. We are not that kind of cooks!

yah but if u wanna have ur own genre, u need also a new look of fans, specially dressed for ur genre, well keep looking, were still not in the year 2500, what do u want, everyone dress like a hooker for porn core or like a clown for clowncore? it already exists, so u will have to be realy inventive if u want ur genre with the clothes that fits with :)
ik snap uw punt hye; kga er ergens ook wel mee akkoord, maar in principe is daar niks mis mee als ge u ervan kunt lostrekken en bvb dingen uit verschillende kottkes combineert (of gwn aan geen enkel kotteke denkt! [ma das mss bijna onmogelijk]) Maja idd, die vuile scenes en hun regelkes e. Ergens ist wel nog begrijpelijk vindik, groepsdruk+jong en naiëf+puberteit=>hé een scene waar ik kan bijhoren Los daarvan: ik ben voorstander van sillycore en/of pipikakacore ^^
