Well
tonight we passed over the 2.000.000 mp3 downloads since launch.
as the average mp3 size is 6mb thats an estimated 12TeraBytes of data.
Sure, it's not as much as youtube or other websites ...
but i don't think any of those have what we have here.
It took us 4years to reach that number, but i'm sure the 3rd million will be hit in a year !!
I'd like to thank all the artists and members who believe in electrobel and have helped in someway or another to make what it is today.
Anyway, here's some news:
I'm working quite hard on the new electrobelV3, which is a complete re-write of the website. I hope to have it completed for electrobel's 5th anniversary, on 7th march 2008. I've been working on it since beginning of this year, so as you can see, it's not an easy task.
This time i'm helped by my good friend s-cape, and hopefully some others will come in and give me hand with the different aspects (especially looking for someone to re-write the flash player and make it better based on my latest source-code).
On another note, some of you will have noticed the "Server Upgrade Donation" link in the top banner. I haven't had a chance to mention this before, so i'll take the opportunity now to talk about it.
Basically, the server is getting close to being maxed out. (harddisk space and ram). As you know, hardware isn't cheap, so i've setup a donation center, where you can donate as much as you wish. The donation is managed by paypal, meaning you can use a paypal account or a creditcard. Once donated, your name will appear automatically on the website, and the total updated.
I've decided to put the donation center, after receiving feedback from a couple of visitors saying they'd like to give a little something, but weren't necessarily interested by a teeshirt.
Dark Contest Compilations are starting to sell, don't hesitate to promote it anyway you can.
You can put the following code in your myspace/website etc...

wow.. Impressive... 2.000.000 downloads :) Is that for all the electrobel sites? (All hosted on the same server?) Good thinking about those donations! I'll contribute, one of the following days... sorry for the paypal only, it's the cheapest solution to put up :) otherwise you need to work with guys like ogone, and they take 30euro's a month :)

I was in a very very deep crisis about my musicmaking...
I started making tunes in 95 with fasttracker, stopped from 97 till 99 and then I found FLStudio and made some 30 tracks in 4 years.
None of these songs (1 or 2 exceptions) figure on my ebel page because since I'm a member I made some 75 songs, got massively productive because of the interaction and the comments and the feel of community.
I owe Ebel so much fun that I will contribute... Check your account next week Zark!

they ask for a three digit code at back of card,but on a maestro card(mine)
there is no code.And I couldnt click maestro or visa for the payment method,so thats a big crapper...what to do,what to do?

Besides in the end if there would be any hassle ever, you could just say you sold your cat on ebay then took the paypal money on your account, problem solved.
you can say that for bank transfer as well....
on ebay for example a looot of transactions are handled by classic bank transfer ( all of mine are ) , and that's no problem at all....
i'm not getting a paypall account, i dislike that kinda stuff, but i'd like to give some cash for the server, but in person or with bank transfer...

I prefer banktransfer also... Do you have to get a paypal member to be able to donate? I'm not really into paypall ... Prefer not to use it...

is this really such a big problem? can't you consider e-bel as a "feitelijke vereniging" which can reveive donations that are used to contribute to it?
i'm also waiting for more info about bank transfert... something new about that?
