Because the site become old. No rss, no podcasts, no shares , chrome is not supported (neither ie), the forum sucks (content (only auto-promo) and implementation)...maybe it looks like a 2006 website...I don't know

well, maybe they should add features on the site, like a celebrity pic of pamela anderson or something, everyone receive one in his mailbox, and each time u download something she takes one of her clothes off

As Kwen said we should really get some things moving in real life: some workshop, some parties, more compilation etc...
It would deff give some punch to the internet part and it would give a new dimension to the all community thing.
The party would give the possibility to ebelers to meet each others, and to introduce the platform to new peopl, it would give the opportunity to let some new talent express them self live etc etc...
And there's enough people here on ebel who have contacts with the good people to make it happen.
And I'm shure there's enough people who are readdy to get involved in something to make it happen too.

Not to mention most people organising stuff in name of electrobel now prefer never to be linked to it anymore...and I'm not only talking 'bout me...

Also, finding your music on sale through various russian websites and ebel not doing anything doesn't help and some people took away their tracks, but they were popular artists. In essence, what is the value for a new artist to upload their tracks? They either get minimal feedback, thumbs down without reason, half anonymous users able to say anything them damn well like and I've seen some harsh critics in there, or either their music is likable and before they know it it gets stolen and sold. Bit of a lose-lose here.

@S-cape: Ah yes, happy new year, I was wondering where the yearly 'wait for V3! Soon now' was, cheers for that, 2010 is now covered, onto 2011, to boldly go...Incidentally, knowing the history of internet and websites that had downtime, if people are now jumping ship and not coming back, it wouldn't even matter if any beta is implemented. The damage has been done. 3 years of coding? C'mon.

yep, more than two year of coding, about 30.000 lines of code, life taking the priority place in the task list of the alone guy who do it, thats how you get big monster website as ebel...for free. You know, studies, finding money, other hobbies... Geek's life is not always concentrated on a single big project.
And of course, we dont plan to go to russia kick the ass of poutine's hackers (joke joke joke...)
By the way, happy new year !

See but that's where NORMALLY the supposedly copy-left rights of electrobel come from. And ebel is not registered as an official copyleft website (seems logical, considering all the copyrighted samples used in tracks that were available previously, for instance). So TECHNICALLY, they're not even doing anything wrong. Putting a song on ebel is like putting a 'please steal my material' sticker on your hardware.

Contradict me? Fine, IMG some proof :)

Oh, and BTW, but this is just opinion of course, but I find the layout of the beta horrible, worse than the original. Of course, I get 2 error codes on to so I assume either there's work on it, or my browser messes it up :)

I think all the above is more criticising details ... I think we need to discuss about the bigger picture ;
concept ,  interactivity , communication , democracy , legality etc...

the typeface & colouring of a 'new' version  is not the most urgent matter ...

Just ask ourselves what is it that makes E-bel so special!! When you compare it to other sites like f.i. www.last.fm/ or www.jango.com/ or www.grooveshark.com/ etc... etc...
Just brainstorm on that and then figure out how to highlight that advantage.
Why is E-bel so special to me. Well I'm on here quite a long time and I know some damn good producers that post here on E-bel. I come back for them. Maybe highlight that!! Promote the artists here and make people link through to the place where you can freely download their tunes.
That's what I'm aming at when I started the Electrobel | Netlab page on last.fm
 é voila

It's simply because i composed more tracks between 2006 and 2008 than now. Logical.

I think the reason is that there are far more alternatives then back in the days (soundcloud, bandcamp, ...)
and also because the ending of the escalier parties ;-)
