Forum : Socialize : loud noises are getting painfull
Now since a few weeks , I've got this irritating and painfull feeling in my right ear when I hear something loud , like when and ambulance passes by , or just loud music , even when I'm listening music on my laptop without being connected with speakers.
Terrible highs really gives me a feeling like there's something shaking in my ear. Sometimes painfull , sometimes just irritating.
Somebody who has tis to?
extra info : I'm called a HSP (high sensitive person) Maybe that's why I have that feeling?

Maybe you have tinitus... It's ear damage caused by loud music and noises.

yeah maybe..
I just putted some forks and knives in the vaatwasmachine. And damn it hurted !
A few months ago I went to the docter and he saw nothing bad. He said my ears are perfectly fine , maybe make him look better the next time.
And what i must add : a few weeks ago I smashed some bottles in a glasbak , and I couldn't hear from my right ear for the hole day.
But the irritating and painfull feeling.. I have it from before I smashed those bottles. maybe this act just made it wers? I don't know..

well, from the description I make out that it's Tinnitus. If that is the case, I'd advise you to stay away from loud noises as much as possible. Because that can make it worse, and eventually you might end up with a severe case of ear damage. And you really don't want that. If the sound doesn't go away you should really go see a specialist instead of just your regular doctor.Quote:

i hope you wear earprotection if you're already suffering.
advice: go see a specialist, cause it seems you have a 'pretty' big problem with your ears!
also, after damaging your ears at a party or so, avoid ANY loud noise the weeks afterwards (as in: put in earprotection when going on the street, etc...)

I would put in earprotection if I hadn't have to wear an ipod in the streets.
I have pdd-nos and I really can't walk on the streets alone without any music.
But I'm going to see a specialist , I'll call tomorrow.
in that case, put the music very low, cause it's causing even more damage than other noise since it's directly into your ear

Mate, go and see a otorhinolaryngologist doctor NOW! This is an emergency.
i lost 30% of my hearing capacities last year after one month of mindbursting pain.
Nowadays I have to use these now when at work:
... and trust me these things are soooooo lame... and I absilutely hate them...you only hear mid freqs... but they prevent me from saying "whot?", "sorry?" & "can you repeat please?" all the time because you take a very hard time to understand what the person in front of you tells you... especially when theres background noise. This was a serious issue for my job.
If i had seen a doctor earlier, the loss would probably be less. Notice that your ear never recovers after such incidents.
Even now, when I dont wear earprotection at a concert, the pain comes back the day after.
These cost about 170 euros. The sound is great. The plugs reduce the volume by 25 dB and only the very high freqs get lost.
Don't be kidding with ears. This is serious shit!

among other things, i work as a safety-coordinator on construction sites. there's a simple rule to use to determine whether you should wear protection or not.. if you're standing face to face with someone with 1 meter between each other, and you have to raise your voice to become understandable, it's assumed that the noise is actually loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss and therefor ear protection should be worn. you'd be surprised how often this occurs.

these are made by KIND but there are other brands too.

Don't forget to see an ORL doctor! (not because of the plugs but because of the eardamage!)

You can also have custom-built re-usable earplugs designed specifically for your ears. They're expensive, but they should last you some years. Ask the specialist you're going to see about where you can get those, because they're a lot more comfortable then 'normal' earplugs. And when wearing them, ignore people that look funny at you at concerts etc, cause they're the ones who will be screwed in the long run.Quote:

I have severe tinnitus so I can tell you all about it.
Instead of spending your time for 2 days already blabbering on a forum you should have gone to a doctor or even an emergency room if it actually HURTS (which is not regular). Unless you want it for the rest of your life.
You said sound of an ambulance? I got that nonstop. PIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. Much fun.
