Forum : Producing Help : Quasimidi Rave-O-Lution 309 - Roland SP-404
This one is for a friend of mine...
Does anyone know how to Midi-Sync the Quasimidi Rave-O-Lution 309 with the Roland SP-404 Sampler?
Any tips, tricks, suggestions?

Haha, that is Crashzendo asking, isn't it? Well normally you'll have to make one of the instruments to be the Master Sync in their options menu, and switch the other to external syncing. The problem now is that you'll have to know if the raveolution sends master sync... Oh and you'll need also a MIDI-cable, just in case... ;) I'll try to find more info...
EDIT: Here's an user manual in German:
http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/rave309
look at the right for the user manual... everything is clearly explained!

From the user manual page 41:
MIDI synchronization
mode
Explanation
“
Aut
”
(Auto Sync)
When MIDI Clock messages are received,
the SP-404 will automatically detect them
and synchronize to their tempo. MIDI
Start/Stop/Continue messages can be received
to start/stop pattern playback.
*
MIDI Start/Stop/Continue messages will
not be received during pattern recording.
“
tMp
”
(Tempo Sync)
When MIDI Clock messages are received,
the SP-404 will automatically detect them
and synchronize to their tempo. MIDI
Start/Stop/Continue messages will not be
received.
*
Choose this setting if you want to play the
SP-404’s patterns at the timing you choose
but in synchronization with a performance
sent from an external MIDI sequencer.
“
oFF
”
(Sync OFF)
MIDI Clock and Start/Stop/Continue messages
will not be received.
*
Choose this setting if you only want the
SP-404’s samples to play in response to
Note messages received from your external
MIDI sequencer.

if the person you are talking to takes the word "midi-sync" in his mouth, i think it's common sense to suppose this person understands his own question, don't you think, smartass ;)
