HyeVolture - rays of clarity

Description

umoedr!

first dnb-song I'm really happy with. I already got comments on my snare, so don't be shy to fucking comment on it, I already called your mother a goddamn whore!!! mastering was a bit difficult, same as mix (what to pinpoint?) I preferred a heavy sub, although sometimes it's maybe a bit risky. the ending is something like the beginning of a new song I will never make, dubsteplike, just like those dnb-songs you downloaded where the ending always was the beginning of new song, when it was picked out of a mix, I used to like such endings :p

rays of clarity, like the rays of the sun shining on your thoughts afters a storm, when a moment of clarity strikes you like a clear sky.

I put a bill hicks clip in it, not because I like drugs so much, but because the man was too funny, RIP!

edit: I hate edits. I changed the bass on many points. changed some other things too. I consider this finished now, my learning process will continue in other creative moments, because seriously: mastering and mixing is necessary, but when it takes most of the time, it can slow your creativity waaaay down. btw: where can I buy good stereo boxes from around 300 euros? tell me that instead of giving comments on mixing and mastering please.

good ideas and some real good points..

but indeed the mixdown isn't all that, you should realy look into that...

thumb up!

cool original stuff
mooie opbouw enal, lot of variatie
the drums sound a bit weird but ja, that's probably because you didn't use standard dnbsamples

cool! good tension the first minute or something but at the point the low bassynth falls in tension is lost for me. But it comes back so thats good :) the bass could be louder too for me at 4 min..
but good idea, has potential me thinks...

cruize: "isn't all that" could be a little less vague maybe :p. It's not that I know "aha, now I should do that" with this kind of comment.
omyiga: drums are made with ableton drumkits, as always (until now) in my songs.
rag: thnx for the bass-tip, I already heard some differences on speakers, like sub disappearing, where I clearly hear it on my phones. I will fix bass. "Tension gets lost but comes back" sounds like a good build-up for me :p

hehe you're right, relistened it and i think i was confused by the mix which fell a little more silent (don't know if i put it the right way)...

ja miljaar, maf om uw evolutie/openmindedness te volgen azo.

the climax should explode much more I think. And the melody's after it, are a bit too different from the part before the climax imho.
verry nice stringmelodies/harmoniez.
vree gewaagd,
Idd also use more shike shike shike shike.shakers niewaar.
is voor voor uw drive.

good work! i like the melodic approach, about the mix, i'd suggest to experiment with eq's adn volumes some more, because in the case of mixing it's one of the best ways to learn it i think, just make sure that the sounds have their own place and volume and eq etc

nice melodies, i think the overall is pretty good. certainly for a f1 dnb song. like the sints aswell. and as you so kindly pointed out, the snare could be a bit better ^^

IskaRiot [be] - 16 years ago

not your average dnb, nice pads. sample nicely integrated...
not so fond of that circusorgel somewhere in there, other synths sound yummie to me. forget what i said about the bass earlyer, sounds good here, and no dropouts on my woofer... or at least none that i noticed
up to the next one!

CruizeOfFiction [be] - 15 years ago

good edit! maybe layer a sub in there for a bit more low frequencies.

I also notice you're breaks are made yourself out of different hits!
CUDOS! (everyone samples breaks in dnb lately :() maybe layer it with an existing break for more push & such (now it sounds a tad to acoustic) layering is real important when it comes to dnbbreaks^^

thumb up!

HyeVolture [be] - 15 years ago

loze woorden he man, nog een duimke: geen bijgekomen! (maar hoeft ook niet hoor)

IskaRiot [be] - 15 years ago

neeja, eerst komt mijn duim en mijn comment er nie door

hmm.. this a tracked track?

The snare needs some more fattening from distorted white noise especially after the break at 1.35 where I also expect a cymbal ride or some long on-tick sound. Something my mother wouldn't like in this music is the really soft kick. Try adding some mid-punching kick sounds and complete the drums by adding more arms to your mechanical drummer. I pretty much enjoyed this song :) thanks - EatMe [nl]

StorungStelle [be] - 15 years ago

not bad at all, just the melodie wich enters around 2:00 is a little to cheazy.and maybe putt your attack of your compressor on the snare a little shorter. and it last a little to long.
otherwise, no further comments

Rag [be] - 15 years ago

liked the song. about the stereo speakers, i recently bought the m-audio bx5a studio monitors for a little less than 300eur and i'm very happy with them, as you'll read anywhere on the internet they have a lot of punch :) the subs arent very loud on them tho, might need addition subwoofer for dnb
