rool (ntk era) - electric popstar

Description

i consider this as one of my favourite tracks i've done with noisetrekker, because of its simplicity, the sounds and the lyrics.

the lyrics are done with a voice-generator again, but this time i also combined two voices into the chorus at the end.

these are the lyrics:

i've got
rhythmic circuits
looping programs
beating bits
and loads of files
i've got
pumping waveforms
random lyrics
static sounds
it will be fun

i wanna be
a funky robot
i wanna be
a music machine
i wanna be
a dancing cyborg
so let me be
an electric popstar

i've got
plastic basslines
funky options
spectral effects
and loads of beats
i've got
recorded procedures
encrypted moves
bionic voices
it will be fun
i've got
groovy structures
harmonic functions
rocking systems
and loads of filters
i've got
analyzed sequences
archived samples
compressed drums
it will be fun

chorus

i wanna be
a symphonic android
i wanna be
a hifi device
i wanna be
an audio computer
so let me be
an electric popstar

it will be fun

chorus

(composed with noisetrekker 2final)

Quite a fun song, very creative, would work well with a better mastering..there could be more dynamics between the sounds i think..maybe a harder bassdrum and some sidechaining? Still, cool track :) thumbup

thank you, guys.

you might be right about the mastering, but the noisetrekker-program didn't allow me much.. i might rework this on ableton someday.

Haha Kraftwerk on Ebel! Yeaaaaaah!
Cool track Rool!

But, I'd like to hear you sing and emulate the voices yourself. If you use a voice generator, you get a static voice without any rhythm or melody. If you do it yourself, you can still edit them and robotize them, but at least you can put some swing and feeling in them.

But the music is quite cool man, I did thoroughly enjoy that!
Goddamn this track has got shitlooooads of potential, if you would just do the vocals yourself and remaster the whole shebang.
The double-layered voice towards the end works well indeed, now imagine how much better it would even sound with your own voice!

keep it up!

ehm.. i really don't think my voice would be an improvement :)
but, as i'm already doing with 'surfing on waveforms', i'm indeed thinking of putting this into ableton live and using some vocoders onto the voice (so it'll sound really robotic) and reworking the music just a tiny bit..
the music itself is mostly made with the internal synth software of noisetrekker, which is really really basic, but it adds to the electronic feel it needed. even part of the drums are actually made with this.
anyway, glad you liked it anyway.. more ideas for improvement welcome

I miss some meat/bass in the kick, I think today this can be better.. On the other hand this is part of the sound, still it could be a bit more pumping I think.. But apart from that it's a cool track, very nice how you played witht he vocals, bassline sounds very good, nice synths.

The idea of a robotic popstar seems like the dream of any Simon Fuller wannabe. But this sound far more original and certainly more fun than anything out of a pop factory. You've actually succeeded in giving the robot voice a nice understated sense of humor. There's probably a couple of ways of improving this track, but far more ways of screwing it up. Maybe best not to tinker with it too much. It's too endearing and catchy.
