Description

you HAVE to listen - Massive - my best uptempo track in years!!!

For those who think I only make slow ennoying ambient...

this isn't pure big beat....it's a light version of...

it's got:
my best skills, some own sounds and presets, some sliced and combined drumloops and a filmic background. (posted under big beat because it is big beat and if it would be posted under soundtrack
too much users would'nt even give it a shot)

Tension rises, the chase starts, will they be caught?

(for those who listened to Restrained energy... it's the base of this track)

all comments welcome. it's not because I like it that much you should too!!!

that you like it,schould be the 1ste signe of self controll;

mostly others will like it too,if ya can look from a distance;

if i look from a distance,without knowing,who made it;

it sounds very ^pro,very bizy,very gamish again;

may be a comment that could perfect this song,is...

its all to sudden,when changes come,try to move us with filters towards those moments of thruth;

then your sudden changes will make more sence

otherwise,i'm getting the urge to game,lol

Hmmm strange song, good atmosfear in song, fullof darkness :-) I considered it as a sound track

Anonymous [be] - 18 years ago

I like it, it sounds really good (the basses make my floor thrill), maybe there is idd some work on some of the changes but for the rest it's good.

DrGonzo [be] - 18 years ago

this is very good...very pro...loved the ambience...thumb up:)

4EYEZ [be] - 18 years ago

not expecting this from reaman..
but good (sound)track!

Sounds are pretty PRO and 'finished' at certain moments (referring here to the reversed drum sounds, or whatever it may be)

What's up with the guitar? own sounds? sample? It really fits ..

Hint: play with the balance of the 'bleep-track' at 3.00 mins..
cheers
dieter

W00t :D

Very cool stuff!! you're absolutely right! Be proud and enjoy astonishment! A new fav one.

4Eyez : I think guitar sounds are FL Slayer...am I right?

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

yep yenneman, was going to put them through the amplitube but they suited the song well like that.

Anonymous [be] - 18 years ago

congrats reaman! very very neat production. have my doubts about that fruityloop guitar and though the song would fit tremendously well with a fast-paced action movie, it is less appealing when contemplating it independently. you do realize you have set a new standard for your next songs coz otherwhise your fans will be dissapointed ;)

Funky [be] - 18 years ago

Yeah! Really nice! You're right to be so enthousiastic bout it... I think it's really good! Nifty moodsetting true out the song... Grtz

HarryPoppins [be] - 18 years ago

some nice soundz here! nice melody/pad. Only thing I don't like is the drumloop u used; the DL_DrillNBloop from fruity.. soundz too familiar.
:)

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

yeah, you're right HP, it's one of the preset loops i used. I programmed another one myself (the main rythm pattern) and the two remaining loops are chopped-up edited loops from a remix pack i downloaded a while ago.

PlanetsCitizens [be] - 18 years ago

WOW! What a very good sound!!!!!!! Pro sound here!!!! Very good dynamics and stereo! Very nice composition!!! This is an excellent soundtrack!! Really! Congratulations!! *saved*

kaoz [be] - 18 years ago

great soundtrack 4 a movie; i don't think it is bigbeat except from that drumloop, but very nice!

Carbura [be] - 18 years ago

Nothing to add! Sounds really cool! Could be a great opening tune for a live gig. Keep it up!

Are you going to do it?

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

hell no, I am 30 years old (next 24th dec), got two kids, have a full employement in education, three evenings in the week I'm an independant insurances (life and pension) salesman - if you need information bout that, feel free to mail me - so I ain't got the time to do so.

If I were 23 or something... yeah, why not. If I could redo my life, the only thing I would change is trying harder to achieve something in music/sport. Now i feel like having done half of them both.

arnaud975 [be] - 18 years ago

Very Good, but too many sounds at the same time... I like MS-20 sounds ;)

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

the thing i always find bizarre is that when you listen to a track - not only this one - it souns well through your headphones, through various speakers and players on PC but once you render it (HQ) to a wavfile to put it on a CD and you listen to it in your car or stereo it sounds so unpolished. Where does it go wrong?

Anonymous [be] - 18 years ago

Heh, I find listening in a car never representative for a song, except maybe for the general melody... too much noise coming from outside, besides you can't quite concentrate on the music when you're behind the wheel.

As for this track:
I have to say it's one of the best thing I've heard from you so far - I mean musically. It's haunting, dark, threatening... But the tension it not really "rising", as the song has a rather kickstart, dragging you down the stream immediately. If you really want to have the "tension rising", you gotta start with a slower build-up.

Okay, so you've tried out some guitars, me likes ;-). But I'm not sure what exactly they are doing there, with the strings mixed over themn, it doesn't quite fit. Maybe if you'd incorporate some vocals which can function as a cover-up for that.
When reading your song information above, I wonder whether you are critical enough to yourself... You see, you call it "your best uptempo track in years, with your best skills", but if I look at the creation date, and the posting date... It makes me think. Whenever I finish a song, I have the exact reaction as you have "my best definitely", it's only after a few days that you can really conclude such a thing. The song needs to ripe, you need to discover "is this really how I want it to sound?". Okay, so I as well have some songs with a close creation-post date, but since my mind is constantly shifting between what's my best thus far and what not, I let the people on Ebel decide.
This is not a cheap critique on you, just a general thought on how people often are not questioning the very essence of things, not only in music, but in life as a whole. You're a teacher, I'm sure you recognize this among some of your students.
There's always room for improvement, even if you thinkn it's perfect for you, others might have a few points of criticism... the very essence of Ebel. Share, discuss and learn from each other.

Having said all this, I still have to admit that my producer qualities don't even reach up to your knees, you're more experienced and far superior a producer than I am :).

Rabauw [be] - 18 years ago

Damn, it fucked up again... I knew it would happen, so I was safe enough to copy my long essay ;)
EDIT: I guess you can see my long comments twice now, one with fake_user_ID

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

like the tone of your comment, not the content for one issue: it's not because i choose a date as 'song creation date' it's made that day; To me it means: the day I finished it. I was working on this one for about 2 months (not only on this song ofcourse, from time to time i spent some hours on it)... to me it sounded as good as it could get (through my cheap headphones - gettin' some pro stuff under the christmass tree (if not i buy it myself)) .
So if u think i made and posted this song in such a short time delay... you're mistakin' here. Anyway, thanks for the final comment! To me you're as good as any producer who makes music I like.

Rabauw [be] - 18 years ago

Hehe, I kinda saw your reaction coming, maybe I wasn't clear enough in my first comment... :-)
I know damn well that you're not the one to make music in a hurry, and that you spent a lot of time to complete a track (just as I do), but what I meant was: you being so proud of that track vs the date you finished it... I mean, maybe if you had the finished version riping for a couple of days more in the back of your head, you might have been even more proud...or maybe get a feeling of "I've done better"... I dunno. What I was trying to point out was, the day it's finished it's always great, in all our elation we sometimes fail to see what we ought to see. I was using your post as an example :-) Like I said, not a specific "attack" on you, but a general pondering of life... it's what I like to do, and what often keeps me from going insane in a world not meant to spin peacefully.

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

peace man - i know what you mean...

arnaud975 [be] - 18 years ago

Good Work Again Reaman ! :)

AnaesThesiA [be] - 18 years ago

Well... errr... i'm sorry to say, but i am not thàt impressed by this track. Please don't get me wrong, it's good... but from your description i expected more.

You've got a very solid base with this track, but it misses some things. First of all, i think the sounds aren't "polished" enough, i hear some "karton" in there ( check the 300-700hz region ), but everything sounds nice nevertheless... and that's exactly my problem. I think this track sounds a bit flat... You know, you're building up your lines, adding layers and stuff, but it's like the overall volume doesn't change; my heart doesn't skip a beat. I think this song isn't exploding, and that's exactly what it should do. I feel where you're going, but i also feel like you didn't get there... Maybe it misses those subtle atmosphere sounds no-one notices when they are in a song, but you can feel somethings 's missing when they are not there. It's like i can feel "gaps" in your soundscape... And i also agree with cestqui, that perhaps you should "anounce" the changes in the track ( maybe with a reversed cymbal or something like that... just an idea ), make the soundscape really swell and swell and swell some more, and then... *bam*

There are some very nice FX in this track, that's for sure...

Again, please don't get me wrong, i really think it's a good track, but i also think there's still a lot of room for improvement. I think i'm gonna listen to it once more sometime soon and i'll try to give a more constructive comment with clearer thoughts... ( if i don't forget it... :s )

reaman [be] - 18 years ago

i don't get you wrong and you don't have to apologise for saying yor opinion...
If that's your point of vue i have nothing against it. I even do agree with most of your remarks. This song isn't polished (Equalised as it should), some sounds could be better and anounced a little... i know what you're talking about... but for now it's what it is. Maybe later, when i've gotr no other songs to finish i'll give it a restyling - considering all remarks.

brandtkalk [be] - 18 years ago

yes i prefer this one then "restrained energy". may be modulation on the bass like "drum&bass" style juste for boosting the swing...

aphone [be] - 18 years ago

nicely done bro, its not my cup of tea but its fuck'n well done, maybe you could explore a bit more this metal-industrial feelinz, thumbs up menneke

yenneman [be] - 16 years ago
