this defenitely contains some good elements like some nice sweeps, vocal effects and a nice bass pattern. But there are also some bad elements, the one that stood out for me is the change of pattern you do at around 0:50, 1:20, 2:40, ...you go a note lower and that sounds terrible to me.

Haaaaaah finally someone who understands!!!! Finally, someone who dares to do what no one dares to do: make a goa song that lasts less than 6 minutes, halelujah, my prayers have been heard! You know what, to tell you the truth, I was quite into goa until about a year ago, when I really started to get bored with the genre, and you know why: because of the long songs.

Now, I don't have a problem at all with long tracks, as long as they're interesting and full of variation. A primary example of this is SUN PROJECT's "space dwarfs". Almost 10 minutes, but such a fucking great track and it's filled with variations.

But I got bored with goa, because people all too often felt they had to stay within the boundaries of the genre, i.e. making songs of at least 7-8 minutes. The result is, that in the end, everything starts to sound the same, and people just make long songs by endlessly repeating melodies, evolving into a mass of boring tracks. I have pointed this out before on several occasions, and people always say to me "yes goa does have to be this long". Then I'm like "no it doesn't, there is no strict definition of how long your song has to be, if it's boring because there's no variation what's the use?" Then they're again "yes but goa still has to be long".

So, you can't believe how happy I am that I finally find someone who DARES (oooh, tough guy :D) to make "short" goa songs. I've just been checking some of your goa tracks, under 6 minutes, which is great. To tell you the truth, I didn't think the songs an sich are that spectacular to be honest, but it's such a relief that there's finally someone who dares to colour outside the goa lines. So thumbs up for you!

Okay, and now I'm gonna stop. Feel like I've written an entire manifest or bible here :)

sound much more "electronic" than the old version...It sounds more "spatial goa" where other tracks usually sound "psychedelic environment"...I just have one "problem" : your flanged snare. I don't know why, but i can't help focusing on it, and well, i don't really get the rest so it gets a bit annoying...But i'll make an effort...
Truly, this is a must-listen track

Yeah well, the remix was made in january 2006. I'm not happy about the final mix either but this remix had a piece (the last piece) in it that was better than the previous version. I'm not touching this project again because then I would start remaking the whole. You're right about the snare and there are other things in it that bother me. Old songs, always mixed felings :))

its a cool song, with lots of cool bits in it .
but to be honest there is nothing that really sets the song off if you know what i mean. (het kabbelt ma wa voort :) )

really nice work! this sounds like very good goa with lots of nice fx and a good song structure. (reminds me of Infected Mushroom :-j

@Rabauw: ever heard of suomisaundi?

it is the finnish subgenre from psytrance and actually it doesn't have any rules

Jeller [be] - 17 years ago

^that was me

nice song, but not always my style

Rabauw [be] - 17 years ago

Infected Mushroom??? Don't really see the parallel and besides InfMush comes nowhere near Bandarlog's talent. (as you can tell, I personally don't like InfMush at all :p).

Never heard of the suomisaundi style, but what I meant in my previous comment was that for standard goa/psy the trend is "no matter what you do, cross the 6-minute border, good song or bad song doesn't matter".

EDIT: and now with the new version, you did cross the 6-minute line haha ;:)

Jeller [be] - 17 years ago

well, in the regular goa style, it should be entrancing so with longer songs it is more easy to get in a trance

KiliRafari [be] - 17 years ago

you have got a talent. I listen few songs of you. i would be good for a disco!
Maybe some songs needs more different sounds... but it's great!

transynth [be] - 17 years ago

i think it's quite good, but the beat is too soft for this kind of psy trance, idem for the bassline, a phatter beat would make it lots more energetic, out of that, nice job!Grtz
